It does the job
I have a multitude of symptoms from iron deficiency. I can't take the pills because of IBS. And I practically ran out of the doctor's office when he said I needed an IV of iron (fear of needles). So I found this as an alternative. First I tried the Wellesse brand that tastes better, but my doctor pointed out that I had to drink half the bottle for one dose of what I needed. This one is what he approved - 3 tablespoons a day. I mix it with orange juice to help with the taste (it's like sucking on a mouth full of pennies) and absorption. It's why it orange flavored. My husband has to get after me like I'm a child avoiding cough syrup. The after taste lingers for a good 10 minutes. It does the job though. No stomach issues (unless on an empty stomach). It's been helping with muscle pain, fatigue, circulation, etc. To get it over with, I put the 3 tablespoons in a small glass, mix it with just some orange juice that equates to about a gulp and just shoot it. Best to get it over quick.

more than i expected
While the product description had the volume of the bottle, I couldn't seem to figure out how big a dose was, so I wasn't sure how many doses I was getting in a bottle. It turned out the bottle had about 100 doses for the amount of iron I needed, so I got a whole lot more than I expected. It is just too bad that it tastes so metallic. I haven't researched if I can sweeten it or something.

Perfect for iron defiencny anemia, first hand experience.
This stuff is great. I suffer from throat strictures due to my GERD and am incapable of swallowing pills. I have to crush them up and take them with applesauce. When it was discovered I was severely anemic a month ago, I was prescribed 325mg ferrous sulfate 3x a day. Well, trying to adhere to that regimen while having to crush pills in applesauce was almost impossible for me. I needed a way to take the dose quickly and easily. This elixir does the job and the taste is ok. Like others have said, mix dose with a shot of fruit juice and gulp it. Very minimal after taste that lasts for maybe a minute. Since purchasing my first bottle, I am only a quarter way through it, taking 7.5ml 3x a day along with a chewable vitamin C, and already I can feel a difference. My constant coldness is going away, my limbs aren't constantly falling asleep, and my energy is starting to come back. I have a long way to go before I am fully healthy again as I am battling other issues, but this iron elixir is a major part of correcting the problems and I would recommend it to everyone. It is the cheapest iron elixir on here and works every bit as good as the other more expensive name brands. In fact, this is the generic competitor to Feosol name brand iron elixir. Says right on the bottle.

Taking for iron deficiency and anemia, but no change in the numbers yet and the flavor is very strong and hard to get past.
This seemed to be doing the job for an iron supplement for my child, but his numbers haven't gone up yet. The doctor prescribed this exact dosage for my 12 year old son because his iron was very low and he was anemic. My son has trouble taking this because the flavor isn't very good at all. It's a syrupy sweet orange flavor, but also an overwhelming metallic taste that lingers around for a while and is hard to get past. He mixes it with a small amount of orange juice to get it down, but it just barely masks it. It will make a giant glass of whatever taste just as awful as the supplement alone if mixed in, so be careful about that. I'll see if my son's numbers go up and if they do, so might the review.

Nasty taste, great effect
This product tastes HORRIBLE, but it is a great and fast acting iron supplement. I highly recommend having something to use as a "chaser," such as a vitamin C containing juice. This helps absorption and also helps kill the taste of rusty nails. Also, make sure and rinse your mouth afterwards. It helps to knock this product back like a shot and get it as far into your throat as you can, so it doesn't stain your teeth. Even though the process of using this isn't the most pleasant, none of these things are the fault of the product. It's because you're taking liquid iron. That's why it still gets five stars. It seems to have great absorption.

DO NOT BUT THIS PRODUCT!
The Ingredients of Ferros Sulfate Elixir For Iron: Ferrous Sulfate, Cellulose Gel, Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Magnesium Stearate, Polyethylene Glycol, Blue 1 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Titanium Dioxide Artificial Color, Triethyl Citrate, Polysorba The dyes are synthetic, coal tar products and highly toxic to humans and animals! They are BANNED from Norway and Finland! Yellow 6 Side effects - gastric upset, diarrhea, vomiting, nettle rash (urticaria), swelling of the skin (angioedema) and migraines, linked to hyperactivity in young children. Blue 1 Lake: โBlue 1 was not found to be toxic in key rat and mouse studies, but an unpublished study suggested the possibility that Blue 1 caused kidney tumors in mice, and a preliminary in vitro study raised questions about possible effects on nerve cells. Blue 1 may not cause cancer, but confirmatory studies should be conducted. The dye can cause hypersensitivity reactions 2.โ If this is not enough to find another iron supplement (I like Nutra Bio's chelate Iron caps, 0 toxic fillers used, inexpensive!), then google for other ingredients in relation to health risk and decide for yourself.

A Do Again
Arrived well pkgd, on time. My iron and RBC levels have not changed significantly, so I cannot fairly say that it is a miracle. It does not have sugar , good as I was ordered to follow FODMAP for c.diff damage, not because of obesity or diabetes. Does not taste bad. When I was w/out it, #'s did drop slightly, but they are always changing due to other variables. In all I would recommend it and reordered it many times as it not dressed up, sweetened and overly plgd, or overpriced.

It didn't taste as bad as I thought
After reading some of the reviews about the awful taste this iron elixir has I was bit reluctant on purchasing it for my kids. Well, I made up my mind and I got it anyway. It was to my surprise but the taste wasn't all that bad as I read it would be. It has an irony taste but that's to be expected, given it's iron medicine. It helps to take it with some OJ just to kill the after taste and of course better absorption. My thirteen year old son and twelve year twin girls took it with ease. I even gasped in amazement as my three year old twin girls swallowed it. I'll definitely be purchasing this elixir on a regular because it really boost your iron levels and the price is awesome.
