Bormioli jars are top quality
I have bought Bormioli clip top jars before and was never disappointed. Some times you can get these at a very decent price. That's why I got them actually, when buying jars economy is first priority for me. They are also the best looking jars too IMO. Also it is nice that they are made in Italy and not China by default. I bought a generic brand of clip top jars with no manufacture name I think made in china, well they where advertised as airtight but they where not. They did not pass the airtight test. I put some water in the jar turn it upside down if it leaks its not airtight. The problem is the gaskets were too thin. It is easily fixed by doubling up the gaskets but even the metal clips where thinner. All the Bormioli jars pass the air tight test so no worry's there. I was first worried ordering jars thinking I could get some broken once but I never got a broken jar they are always packed very well especially if you buy them in cases.

Ideal for home preserves and good alternative to a demijohn
Bought for home preserves, reasonably sturdy if care is taken when filled to brim. Lid and seal work well. Wide neck is very useful. Current in use and doing a good job. I'm thinking of buying another for next year's fruit, so would happily recommend.

Perfect for food storage.
I use the 3L jar for storing flour; at first I was concerned that it may not be large enough since I frequently cook and go through a lot of flour. However, I do not find myself having to refill this jar too often, I find it to be just about the right size. I have many of the other sized jars and use them for similar purposes (1/2L, 1L, 2L) such as for sugar, granola, etc. I will say that sometimes getting larger sized measuring cups inside the jars can be a bit of a pain, but it is not something that would stop be from buying these jars. They are sturdy, do not have any strange odors and keep food fresh for a long time. Definitely better than some of the other storage containers I have used in the past. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant
Have bought two of these now - one for flour in the pantry and the 2nd being used with its lid as a vase. Great quality, superb size, trying to find excuses to buy more!

Excellent jars for fermenting or general storage
The bormioli rocco fido jars are of high quality. Hand made in Italy using thick, lead free (unless its changed) glass. The jars are good enough value to be useful for general storage. However, they really excel as fermenting, pickling and/or preserving jars. The 3 piece metal clasps can be easily removed before washing. As they tarnish and rust very easily this is a good idea to always do. The glass jars can also crack as pointed out in a number of reviews. Usually when pouring boiling or very hot water into them or when boiling the jar in a pot to sterilize. The manufacturer recommended way to avoid this is to wrap the jar in a cloth while boiling. As mentioned, they excel for fermenting etc. The wide mouth is great for filling and cleaning as you can place a full hand inside. The lead free glass is helpful as fermenting produces lactic acids etc. There is also the option to purchase anaerobic kits specifically designed to work with these jars. The kits have precision cut openings in them, grommets, airlocks and glass weights. This helps keep the jars airtight during fermentation while allowing the fermentation gases to escape through the water airlock. The floating glass weight helps keep the contents submerged in the brine and doubles by reducing the exposed water surface area. This reduces or eliminates potential surface 'scum' or unwanted bacterial/yeast growth and gives a far superior ferment in my experience. All in all great jars. Just be careful with temperature changes, boiling, sterilizing etc. Also, some clasps tighten tighter than others from the get go. And over time all of them loosen eventually from taking them on and off for cleaning. The clasps and rubber seals can all be bought and replaced separately from the jars as spares when as needed. There are two amazon listings for the same jars which can be confusing. Having contacted the seller they explained the jars are the same. It is just that one listing includes a free info booklet from the manufacturer in German with each jar. I use whichever listing works out better value at that time and is in stock.

Good
This jar is great for making fruit alcohol infusions , large opening helps to keep it clean, the locking spring is with good tension and keeps all liquid inside.

Nice herb jar
It was a great jar for storing my “herbs”, it was nice and thick and did a decent job of containing the odours. Sadly i broke it after accidentally dropping from a height of about 1m on a carpeted floor, I was hoping it wouldn’t be so weak and shatter but it’s glass at the end of the day so my bad not the products. Just a note though for people using it for a similar purpose the smell will get through, especially if you’re frequently opening and closing it. Oh and the smell will NEVER come off the glass ever once it becomes the designated “herb” jar it’ll smell that way for life take my word for it.

In one piece.
Fortunately, and unlike some reviewers, it arrived fully intact. That did surprise me slightly because it could have been better protected in the cardboard delivery box.Not checked it is 5 litre capacity but it looks about right. Fairly thick glass and quite durable, proven by it's unbroken delivery! The glass lid secures well with the included rubber sealing ring.Possibly a bit pricey. In spite of that happy with the product.
