English Flint Fire Strikers (5 Piece) Flint for Sparking Survival Tools Outdoor Camping

The flint came in a black velvet bag which was stuffed full. This bag contained 5 pieces of natural flint, 2 of which were quite large; one was small but still useful in size. They appear to be English flint, and they spark like a true English flint when struck with a good piece of steel. I was quite impressed with the quality and quantity of flint in this order.

Haven’t spent a ton of time with these yet, but I’ve had fun testing them out in my shop. Managed to start a few tiny “birds nest” fires just to see if they spark well (don’t worry, not real birds’ nests!). They struck nicely with my ESEE fire steel and produced a solid spark. I’m tossing them in my pack for my next Alaska bush adventure, they seem tough and durable enough to handle some serious outdoor use.

Some reviewers reported the same experience, so I was expecting what I received. As the photos show, we received two nice size chunks. There was also two rather thin curved pieces, which look to be perfectly suitable striking flints. I am not a knapper, and have no interest in starting. The three thicker pieces I intended to cut with lapidary tools into musket flints. In that, I feel it was a good value for the money. One might wish to use the material for something other than fire strikers. In that case, it might be best to decide what to do with this product AFTER receiving it.

Arrived quickly larger than any that I have received from other vendors. Very pleased, Will certainly order from this vendor IN THE FUTURE.

The reviews that I read concerning the product were positive. My experience was not. I bought 2 bags of the flint. A few of my friends wanted me to show a few non-typical (In this period of history) ways to start a fire. I was looking forward to recieving my new bags of flint. Out of the 2 bags of flint that I bought: One bag had 1 piece that was similar to the size represented by the picture of 5 pieces laying in a person's hand. The other 4 pieces were very small. The other bag that I bought had 2 (really 1 and a half) pieces of flint that were not very small. Somebody must not have been paying attention when it came to quality control / the selection of the pieces of flint that went into the 2 bags that I bought and recieved. I don't recommend this product. The bags that I recieved were not good values for the price that I paid. It's too bad. I was looking forward to receiving these. Maybe I'll try to contact the company. If they treat me fairly, I will update my comment fairly.

No flat peices. Hard to use.

Glade I ordered these. By far my favorite fire building method. Good amount of edges to get a spark off your steel. Should buy a couple more.
