Does it play the entire piece or just a segment of it ?

It doesn't play the entire song, as most of these are very long songs if played in their entirety, but it plays a pretty full rendition of the theme of each piece, probably about 45 seconds or so. It varies from piece to piece. It plays much longer sections than any other classical music toy we have.

What is the age range for this gift?

My children loved it as babies and toddlers, and they still fight over it now at ages 3 and 5!
