Typical Seiko, excellent
Only had the watch for a few days but it has been set to the atomic clock since day one and is still bang on time, perfect to the second. The watch is excellent quality and gorgeous to look at. The chronograph is simple to operate and the alarm function is also much easier to set up than some other reviewers are making it. Initially, the alarm hands must be set to reflect the current time by pulling the crown out all the way and adjusting the hands using the 4 o clock pusher so that they match the larger hands on the dial. Push the crown back in and check to make sure that as the time advances on the larger dial, the alarm hands are also keeping the same time. If you want to set an alarm, pull the crown out ONE click only and again adjust the alarm hands by using the 4 o clock pusher to set the alarm. It can only ring 11 hours 59 minutes in advance max. The bezel crown is easily moved inadvertently when on the wrist and could have done with a lock, but since it is highly unlikely that I'm going to be lost in the wilderness and in need of finding where north is, this is not a deal breaker.

Great watch & excellent price
Really pleased with this, purchased after reading reviews and not disappointed. Was considering TW Steel Maverick range but glad that I opted for Seiko. As you would expect from Seiko nicely crafted & well designed watch. Clear to read with good luminous display. As per other reviews bezel sensitive to touch & alarm not loudest. Lastly supplied ahead of time. Well satisfied.

Great looking, solar powered watch
It was the compass that attracted my to this watch. To be honest, I wouldnt' normally by a Seiko, unless it was a Grand Seiko, but this looked so good and I wanted another solar powered watch, but didn't want another Citizen, so....It does look good on the wrist though and Seiko know how to design a watch face to get everything on, without making it too crazy - Citizen pay attention! It comes with a quality calf leather strap, with a good Seiko embossed logo on the buckle. Case is stanless steel. Alarm can be set separately and in my experince is loud enough to hear if it's on a bedside table. It features :Normal timeStopwatch - with minutes at 12pm & independent second handAlarm at 6pmDate at 3pmSeparate second hand dial at 9pmCompass internal bezelNumeral and hand lumeIt's this compass that makes it look so cool. It's not a real magnetic compass, but one of those orientation type compasses, that require you to use the sun and be aware of which hemisphere you are in! It's not too difficult and the compass crown on the left at 10pm makes the watch look ever better and is smooth in use. This is my only disappointment with the watch. The compass is an inner, smooth, omni-directional rotating bezel. There are no ratchet clicks to lock it in place and this means that during normal wear, the inner bezel moves quite a lot. I like the bezel to be held with north at 12pm, which it would if the bezel was ratcheted. It's a minor grievence to be honest, but it does stop me giving this watch 5 stars.Other than that, if you want an explorer look and a watch that never needs it batteries replacing, then this is a highly recommended buy.

Brilliant timepiece!
Every bit as flashy as the pictures suggest. Very solid and very good looking. I have had it for a week now and it hasn't gained or lost a second - literally: I set the watch against the long-wave time signal from Frankfurt (atomic clock). I can really recommend this watch!

Excellent bargain!
Watch received was new in perfected condition but the package was damaged.Regarding the item is an excellent quality solar watch for about 160€ from Seiko. Don't have to bother with batterie runs out!Fits very well on the wrist and it goes very well along with formal or casual clothing!Would always recommend!

What Value
I'm a bit of a collector of watches. I wish had the cash to collect IWC, Patek Phillippe, Blancpain etc but no chance on my salary and the way err indoors spends it. Anyway the watch turned up this morning and i love it. The glass looks amazing and the hands etc are very easily read. The strap is plenty long enough which is a bonus for me. Being 6'8" and not skinny i often have pay out £30 for a longer strap but with this there are 4 spare holes so would suit the biggest wrist i think.Haven't had a good play yet, but i'm sure it'll all work.I am really please and for a little less than £140 its amazing

Memories of a time past
Classic styled chromo, would't look out of place in the 1940's. Very attractive calfskin wristband and high shine case. Great contrast between the markings and face and of course in low light the luminous markings are excellent. The only drawback in the slightly unnecessary direction markings which are controlled by the crown on the top left which isn't capable of being locked down which had a tendency to be moved during normal use, not a big thing but a fault nonetheless. the solar power system also seems very reliable. Looks great from casual wear right up to formal.

Classic style, solid choice
I had been looking for an aviator style watch for some time. Seiko's Solar Classic fit the bill. The band was iffy and at first I wasn't a fan. When I opened the box the band looks just like the picture. It immediately reminded me of the leather used for baseball gloves. That sealed it for me as I'm a sucker for baseball nostalgia. I quickly grew to appreciate the contrasting tones. Although, that did not stop me from buying some replacement bands with butterfly clasps. The second leather loop that holds the band will loosen with wear and since my wrists are smaller there ends up being a lengthy band sticking out. Another reviewer mentions that the band is around 1"-1.5" longer than normal. I agree.PROS:The casing is greatCrystal hasn't scratched yet and I've worn it most of every week for the past two months(?)The glow is brightSolar powered! and holds a charge for a month per the instructions.Keeps excellent timeDate is clear and easily visibleChrono is solidCompass turns smoothlyI don't use the alarm but the instructions detail exactly how to set and disable. Sure it would be useful if my phone weren't an easy alternative...maybe when aliens/zombies/robots/future overlords take over I'll start using it and the compass.CONS:My only real gripe is that the main crown is not a screw down. The rest are minor but don't mind themLike others reviewers point out, the compass dial will slide around throughout the dayBand coloring could put you off but easily fixed2nd loop will loosen with wear causing band to stick out (solid, stiff band so won't flop around)Compass is more of an aesthetic but it's fully functional and movement is smoothI would recommend any watch buyer to pick this up at the discounted, steal of a price around $150. I'd pay more if I had that kind of cash to throw around. This is a timeless watch that will be a regular wear and look even more elegant with the black alligator band that's en-route. And for $11 it's a small price to pay to customize this classy timepiece.
