We had a staining mishap with some window trim that was already in place and to complicate things even further, we now have two babies in the house (so we have to make sure we are using low-VOC paints and stains, keep any sanding dust contained, etc.). This product was an absolute lifesaver! It doesn't smell at all, was very easy to use, and we were able to just paint this over our existing wood trim without doing any sanding. The stain took to it well.

I refurbish Furniture for a living in the Las Vegas area, so when this product came across my desk I couldn't wait to try. It was a very easy process and the results were pretty amazing. I used it on a piece that is all particle board. Painted on Retique it, waited for it to dry and layered rust-oleum stains in carbon gray and dark walnut. Added a layer of poly and called it a day. It looks just like weathered wood!!! Great job Renaissance.. your products never disappoint !

Our wood front door was in desperate need of refinishing. We had resigned ourselves to just paint it, then we found Retique It. Just sanded down the door & painted a primer coat. Then we applied Retique It, which covered very well. After that, we then stained it with English Chestnut stain & applied 3 coats of polyurethane. The results were better than we expected. We wanted to keep the wood look & this product enabled us to do so. It worked exactly as described.

The product is easy to work with. I would recommend using a primer if you’re going from dark to light or if using wood filler on any portion of your project.

Used several cans for my doors and it’s a great product if you lucky and don’t get some old can with paste looking paint that can’t be used. I would say it’s 50/50 on product quality. Probably old stock that sites out and can’t be mixed at all. Going to look for alternatives

If you need to redo a piece of furniture or your front door. . . this is the product to use. No fuss, no sanding. . . just paint right over whatever piece you are working on. It feels like real wood once it dries. I have used this product on many pieces in my home and others cannot believe it is not real wood. If you are even thinking about using this product. . don't hesitate. If I can use it and make something look good anyone can.

This stuff is amazing and magical. It can breathe new life into old or damaged wood surfaces. Easy to use and excellent results.

I just really wanted to like this stuff. But I hated it. Cool idea but It was just a flop in my book. It is chunky and watery and it takes forever to get it all mixed up, then it goes on like thin water. It isn’t thick enough to soak up any stain beautifully. Just a yuck expensive (very expensive) disaster. I would not recommend.
