My stats: 6'1" 200lbs pinched spinal column, sciatic nerve impingement, poor sleeper, hot sleeperAbsolutely LOVE this matress. When it arrived it was well packaged. Upon opening I had doubts it would expand fully. Took it to an open room and cut open vacuum sealed bag. Bed started expanding rapidly. A few hours later and it looked completely expanded but I followed the directions and waited. 72 hours later it was ready. I pressed on the top of the bed and I was worried, it felt stiff almost hard. I then laid on it and my worries went away as it formed around me beautifully. It is firm but very comfortable. The initial smell of plastic was almost completely gone. The first night I we slept on it I did not wake once during the night and awoke feeling really good. I have a bad back and since sleeping on this mattress I have noticed that I awaken with less back pain and stiffness. I am sleeping a lot better also. The gel top on this mattress is amazing as it keeps a nice cool layer even if you stay in the same spot for a long time. When summer comes I see this being a HUGE plus.Pros: Firm but giving, cooling, even firmness over the entire surface area, smell fades within daysCons: Honestly none as of yetI will update in a month or two.4 month update:Looks and feels brand new.No dents, soft/hard spots, and no signs of wear or breakdown.We live in western Pennsylvania and it has been in the 90s during the day and 68-72 at night. The beds gel layer has been a Godsend.I go to bed 2-3 hours after my wife and when I sit and then lay down she never knows.My back has been better in these last 3 months than it has been in years.1 year update:Still looks brand new.No bowing or drooping areas.Every night the wife and I get in it feels like the first night we slept on it.This mattress has literally helped me get the best sleep in the last year than I have in 20+ years of having a bad back.2 year update:Yes, still in love!Every night feels like the first night in this dream. Cooling still works fantastic, it is still the same firmness as when brand new, and it stills forms to my body perfectly. Would and will buy again!5 year update:Still like perfect. Every night is a great sleeping experience. Holding up like it is new.

Very pleased so far. I got an amazing Amazon branded signature hybrid last year and it has been great. I decided to get this version for another room and I am very pleased with the quality and comfort level. There are so many options it's hard to know which are good but Amazon Basics is a safe bet for most! I would recommend it with high quality and gold pricing.

Purchased the King, 12 inch mattress in Medium firmness approximately 1 year ago, and here are my insights:This is a great mattress for the price! This sucker is HEAVY, so you better have two people to move it and arrange it when the mattress arrives. Give it the full 48 hours to expand... when we unwrapped it, it did have a strong chemical smell to it, but we gave it the 48 hour recommended time to expand before using it, and the smell dissipated on its own without any extra work. I do NOT love a firm bed, and I feel this mattress is a little more firm than I expected it to be as a Medium (that's why the 4 stars instead of 5). That said, it is still very comfortable and I get a good nights sleep. It wasn't overly firm enough for me to go trough the hassle to return it, and honestly, if my mattress were to catch fire tomorrow and I needed to purchase a new one, I would probably buy this again, because I know it's comfortable and the quality is great. A year later of my husband and I laying in the same spots hasn't led to any breakdown or denting in the mattress. I do HIGHLY recommend a bug-proof and waterproof cover for it, I added one the first night after the 48 hour expansion period was over, and it has zero stains or wear, and still looks and feels brand new after 365 days of 2 adults and 2 dogs sleeping on it every night.

I purchased a memory foam pillow a decade ago. The smell was so horrible that I banished it to the garage. Weeks later the smell was still so strong and offensive that I threw the pillow away.That experience made me very hesitant about purchasing a memory foam mattress, but a close relative assured me that she had experienced no odor when she purchased her memory foam mattress. After talking with her and reading numerous reviews, I made the decision to purchase the mattress above. I offer the following comments to help others decide if they want to try a memory foam mattress.1) Prepare for the EXPANSION EVENT.A memory foam mattress comes in a box and is rolled tightly in plastic. As you unroll the plastic, physics takes over and the mattress starts a growth process you cannot stop.My husband removed the box, stood the mattress up on one end and began unrolling the outer plastic wrapping as I rolled up the plastic he was removing from the mattress. We had cleared a twin size area on the floor. The mattress immediately started expanding and it was necessary to lay it on the floor before we could cut off the heavy plastic bag in which the mattress was sealed under the outer plastic wrapping. Once all the plastic was removed, we left the mattress on the floor for two days to firm up. The third day my husband carried the mattress to its bed frame, where it continued to firm up. Moving the mattress was challenging because the expanded mattress is very wobbly and difficult to handle. We would have needed a second or third person if the mattress had been a larger size. Consider letting the mattress expand on the bed frame so moving it is not necessary.2) PlasticThere is a lot of heavy plastic to dispose of. Find a store or recycling center.3) Waterproof Mattress ProtectorIt is essential to have a waterproof mattress protector and our mattress did not come with one. The mattress is a foam product and anything you spill on it - food, blood, urine, vomit - will stain the foam and is likely to create permanent smells. Amazon has a good selection of waterproof mattress protectors.4) Memory Foam OdorOur mattress had no odor.5) Corners Not ExpandingSome reviewers mention corners that did not fully expand. Our corners expanded fully once the inner bag was removed from the mattress.6) FirmnessHow firm do you want your mattress? After reviews and recommendations, we decided on Amazon's medium firm, 10 inch mattress. It is comfortable, and does not "trap" you in the foam as some reviewers said could happen with softer mattresses.7) HeatConsider this issue carefully based on your preferences. As you lay on a memory foam mattress you will feel a warmth. This gentle warmth is comfortable and relaxing, and is one reason I would choose a memory foam mattress again. Removing or adding a blanket can help control the heat level.
