Are the numbers on tiles embossed (engraved into the tile) or just painted on?

These tiles are ENGRAVED, not as thick as Dominoes, but just right. They are 1 1/2" long and 1" wide, their thickness is less than 1/4" but they are EXTREMELY EASY to pick up, unlike their plastic painted counterparts. This game is used by 3 people who have arthritic fingers and problems with the "feeling" in their fingertips and two people who have vision problems. We ALL are happy with these tiles! Is it easy to distinguish between 6 and 9 with this set?

I have a vision problem. The large numbers are very helpful. We did underline the #6 with a black magic marker. I would definitely recommend this game

what are the tile's dimensions?

The chip size is 1.5 inches tall & 1.1 inches wide. Almost the same size as regular Rummikub. I don't know the size of dominos. The chips are thick and solid. We have no issues on the rack that they are placed in. The numbers take up to 3/4 of one side. We ordered the larger version as we play with people that are colorblind or have other eye issues.

What does the 5" in the item title mean?

I believe the 5" refers to the stand used to hold the tiles.
