Thriving, 9 months after delivery
5/29/23Due to medical issues I didn't transplant it until today. A week or two after my initial review I moved the pot out onto our south-facing elevated deck, put it on the drip system, and basically forgot about it. The end of summer is hot, winter is very wet, and we had 8" of snow in late February, followed by two more weeks of intermittent snow. The plant(s) handled it all with aplomb, lost no leaves, and are growing heartily.During the transplanting I discovered that what I had was two laurel plants, one with sawtooth-edged leaves, the other with smooth-edged leaves. Laurel nobilis (true bay) can have either kind of leaf according to Sunset's Western Garden Book and because the plants appeared, until transplanting, to be one plant, I will assume that both are true bay.8/11/22I hate 4- and 5-star reviews from people who write reviews the day their order arrived. What do they usually know about how well the item works or how long it lasts? That warning given, all I will say at this time is that the plant arrived well packaged, about 4" tall, full, its soil still damp, although not moist, and healthy-looking — no wilted, bent, or torn leaves.I put the plant into a container of water to soak for about 12 hours, drained the container, and have left it, temporarily, by a window in a room on the north side of the house. I will update this review with information about root structure when I transplant this shrub/tree, in a week or so, and transfer it to a sunnier location for culinary purposes.

False advertising
By no stretch of the imagination a "one gallon" pot of the product description or the size of plant one would expect to receive in a one gallon pot. Also not the size plant one would expect from the product photos.Did receive two plants, which I suppose is a plus, but I did not want two plants this size because I can't raise them from this size in my zone.

Shipped Fast! Bought as Gift for Family Bereavement
One family I know has had a very stressful time of it, loosing a loved one last year, and having another loved one pass away at the same time another family member was getting married earlier this week.Having looked over flower arrangements at various florist websites online, I realized there'd still be flowers from the wedding, and frankly too many flowers after a death in the family can become overwhelming. For roughly the same price as a sympathy floral arrangement, this living sweet bay tree can be planted in a pot for the porch or deck and will provide a lasting memory of "Grammy".I ordered the plant yesterday, and received notice that it shipped this morning! How nice it will be for the family to plant it in honor of someone dearly loved. For those who aren't aware, Bay Laurel (sweet bay) is a symbol of strength and endurance.Update on April 27, 2012: The family planted this in a large pot on their deck, and it has now doubled in size from when it arrived. They live on the VA coast, and simply moved the pot closer to the house during cold weather nights. It's thrived outdoors in their mild climate and they're very, very happy with it.

just arrived, in beautiful condition but infested with bugs
I was worried about buying this during summer but it arrived well packaged and in wonderful condition. It's not as large as the one pictured but it's got a good root base and seems to have been growing in the pot a while. The bottom of the plant was in peanuts and the pot was wrapped in plastic so the dirt did not escape. The plant was held in with cardboard that gave the leaves plenty of room. I would definitely buy this again. All the leaves were intact and did not show any shipping damage.UPDATE: There were some bumps on the plant when it arrived and I didn't think anything of it at the time. It turned out that the plant was infested with scale bugs. I've been trying to treat them with Neem Oil. I have done 4 applications, one week apart and still have not fully removed the infestation. During the treatment process, the plant was stressed and lost some leaves. It's still healthy but I would have to wash the leaves thoroughly of bug matter and Neem Oil before use. What scares me is that I almost infested the other plants that were located in the same area where I placed it. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR PLANT FOR INFESTATION. If there is shiny, sticky goo on the leaves, you probably have an infested plant. Also, the flavor of the leaves is not strong at all, nowhere near the flavor of dry leaves. One more UPDATE: 8 months later. The plant has not survived either the indoor environment or my scale bug treatment. I still have it by the same window where it gets direct sun half the day. The house is at 70 degrees. It lost all its leaves. Most of the branches are withered. I guess I was hoping for a growth spurt. I still have not killed all the mites so maybe it's time to throw it out :( Maybe I should have gotten it a plant light as some of my other plants do well with them.

Wonderful!!
I'm usually a very skeptical person who tends to assume that when a seller has such rave reviews, it might be their employees shilling or something like that, so I wasn't expecting much when I ordered my plant. Boy was I surprised!!Not only the plant is wonderful, but it was the BEST packaging I've ever seen for a plant, ever. It was so perfect that when I pulled it out of the box, it looked as happy and refreshed as a plant that you just picked up at a nursery, and not at all like a plant that has spent time traveling in the mail.I've bought plants shipped by other places before, and they usually arrive in a variety of miserable states, but this plant looked like it had just been in its pot in my garden all this time, and not traveling around. I was amazed! No messy soil everywhere, no broken branches, no crushed leaves, not a single harm to the plant. Everything was perfect, and that was only possible thanks to their awesome packaging. It's also delicious! I have it sitting by the window in my kitchen, and have already made three different dishes using the leaves. :)I'll happily order more plants from them, if they're all of such quality and shipped as well!!
