SENNELIER Extra-Soft French Half Pastel Professional Plein Air Landscape Artist Box Set, 80-Colors

These are the best soft pastels I've ever used. They are highly pigmented and very soft. I use them for doll face ups. They are expensive, but worth the cost. This set had some great colors in it for my use. The packaging was VERY good, the pastels were securely surrounded by foam and tightly packaged so that there was zero breakage.

I love everything Sennelier. These are so nice to work with. Now i am spoiled.

Received this set of gorgeous soft pastels and could not be happier with them. After considerable A/B testing, I selected Sennelier soft pastels for my "base colors", allowing me to enhance my selection with other well-made (and by preference handmade) pastels from costly high-end brands without breaking the bank. These Sennelier soft pastels feel good to use and have an exquisite intensity of pigment that I appreciate as an artist.

Love the colors, but was so disappointed that they are so soft, they fall apart quite easily. Yes, very buttery and exquisite but being half sticks (small half sticks) they just fall apart too easily. I do small landscapes. The packaging while beautiful, cannot be used in the field, it is too hard to open & stuff it back in. And somewhat cheap packaging, although gorgeous painting. I'm a little disappointed.

Once you receive the product and all is well with the delivery, considering the intent of this products use, very light pressure works best - rather there is no reason to exert heavy pressure. They are sturdy enough for their intended purpose and works beautifully.

I bought this as a gift for a new pastel artist and they were delighted with the range of colors and found the half sticks easier to handle than full sticks. The depth of color is excellent, too.

Such beautiful colors, such a buttery feel! I usually prefer half sticks as they're easier to hold and manipulate. These are very soft pastels that I typically use for my final layers when I really want some color or highlight to pop. They can crumble fairly easily, so take care not to press too hard. The variety of colors is pretty good for landscapes, although I wish there were some more violet and purple options. Would definitely buy again!

These are the first higher quality soft pastels I purchased. They are smooth and creamy and don't seem to be breaking or chipping as I was warned they would. The colors are lovely but the price was actually a little steep. I would purchase again to augment my growing collection of archival pastels.
