SAVED MY LIFE
I go hiking every day... Today was my second day wearing these lovely pants and the day that will solidify my love and appreciation for these pants. This morning I encountered a rattlesnake nesting ground. While attempting to turn and make a mad dash for my life, I make eye contact with a tan rock like shape to my left.By the time I got out of the area, I went to take a snapchat of my encounter. During, I felt a sharp pain in my leg like I had gotten scratched. I look down and pull up my pants to see a small scratch and red mark. I got freakin bit by a rattlesnake! After seeking medical attention and being assisted by a park ranger... we can all attribute the lack of actual puncture to the pants I had on today.Thank you so much Columbia! I'll be buying more very soon!

Great looking, great comfort, and retain their shape - worth the money and not just for hiking!
Recently bought a pair of convertible Columbia pants at a popular outdoor store, and loved the way they fit, though they run small. I'm 5'6" 133lbs and normally wear a size 6, but the size 8 fit great and still sleek looking while being extremely comfortable to move in. Am now getting into hiking and have been wearing a cotton shirt and my size 6 fitted cotton capris, which were practically falling off me by end of hike - no more cotton!Love these pants but do recommend to size up - the convertible Sat. Trail pants were actually a touch roomier than this Saturday Trail pant, but both in size 8 work fine for me.

Good but not great
I am just wearing these pants for the first time today, but a few things have already jumped out at me.First, I really do appreciate these coming in a "short" length. This is the third pair of hiking type pants I have owned and although I did size up based on other reviews, they are otherwise the best fitting pants in this style that I have had. The others I have owned were too long and too baggy which are not flattering to the wearer. These also have slim velcro back pockets which are also much more flattering and less annoying than flap pockets or pockets with a button or snap.Second, as with many women's pants, the pockets are a joke. I don't know how deep the pockets are in the men's equivalent to these pants, but these are very shallow. My iphone 10s has to be placed in the front pocket at a weird angle to safely fit and readjusted when I sit (it does fit in the back pocket but that is a terrible place to put your phone.) My keys, which are not particularly big, also shift precariously close to the opening of the pocket when sitting and must be readjusted as well. I'm not sure how much I trust those two pockets to keep items safe. The zippered leg pocket is big enough for lip balm and a hair tie but not much else - I don't really know what the point is. Why do designers continue to act like women don't need or use pockets?!!!! Especially disappointing on pants made for activity.Third, the dangling interior straps in order to roll up the pants. If you are wearing hiking socks and/or boots, rolling them up would only give you about an inch of "air" so unless you are wearing low rise socks or sandals, it's not really much of a feature. I have long johns on today, but I think the straps are going to be annoying dangling against my leg.Fourth, these are definitely lightweight pants. Great for summer, but on a 50-degree day with a layer on underneath, I can definitely feel the chill.

Great fit, but pils easily
I love these hiking pants for the fit and price. I got them for about $36 on here and I want to buy more, but the fabric is INCREDIBLY pil-y. I also noticed that some seams come undone. Not ones that affect the structural integrity of the pants, but still annoying if you are paying more than I paid. I've had them for almost a year now, and worn them about an average of three days a week. I'm still looking for my "perfect hiking pants" but overall these are serviceable for now. For reference I am 5'6", 130lbs, with weight mainly in my hips and thighs and I am wearing a size 6. I find them a little roomy but in a very nice way that allows for eating salty snacks in excess when camping. ;) I also tend to prefer pants that hug the calves a little more than most hiking pants do, so these were a solid bootcut design that suits my needs. The pockets have a mesh lining that allows for breathability which is great in summer. The side pocket is nice, but I wish there was one on each side! The back pockets are basically useless to me because 1) Fumbling with velcro is not fun and 2) I don't really put stuff in my back pockets because I am forgetful and will probably sit on it. I would say also that the "Saturday" labeling of them is quite accurate. I would not wear these on an extended through hike due to the pilling and tendency for seams to come undone. (which would make me worry about them eventually falling apart completely while in the middle of the woods) But they are good for casual day hikes, being on a boat (quick dry, SPF in on point), car camping, etc. and are comfortable in temperatures of spring, summer and fall for my temperate climate (Northeast USA). I would not suggest using them as your winter pants unless you live in a warm climate or are very well layered and tolerant to cold.Overall: Love the fit, but wish they didn't pil! My rating is between 3 stars and 4 depending on how much you end up paying for them and while I do use them regularly, I'm still searching for something with a better quality of material. I may purchase another of these jeans in a darker color to see if they maybe use a non-piling material for that variety or if it doesn't show up as badly (I have the fossil color, which is a beige and in person it does look like the picture, but the pilling shows up TERRIBLY it looks like I'm covered in little speck of dirt and there's so much piling that it's hard to get off with traditional means).

Mixed bag
The color is green gray. The fabric is a little too stretchy. Dries fast. Fabric pilled at upper inner thigh area. I wore these a lot over 3 week period. I'm 5'4" and petite was perfect. Would not repurchase.

Well made and do the job
They're OK I guess. I'd order a smaller size than your usual as other reviews suggest. They look OK on but I have other hiking trousers that are much more flattering. If you're not after style then go for it. I like things to look perfect on me. I got these as a spare for hiking so will keep them and only consider the fact that they're well-made and will do the job:)

Highly recommend
Nice lightweight walking/hiking trousers. I would say the size/fit is on the generous side. Also repelled the water very well.

Comfortable to use and looks good!
It says water resistant but trousers are not for the heavy rain. Fast drying though. A good fit and looks pretty! I ordered size 4, regular. I am 164 cm / 55 kg, and usually use UK size 6 or 8. Size is perfect! Enough space for extra layer, and waist it's a bit loose so they are really comfortable to use.

Excellent for hiking or casual wear
These are great hiking pants, and are also suitable for casual wear in the city. They dry really quickly and hold up well with frequent washing. The zip pocket on the right leg is too small to be any use -- I miss the cargo pocket that was on a previous version of these pants. However, these are really good, and I'll probably order another pair soon.
