This is well worth reading. I have learned so much. There are so many helpful hints and explanations. It really is timeless. I bought six golden retriever books, and this is the one I keep pulling out and going back to . I highly recommend, the material is timeless. And breaking it out on a timeline is an extremely helpful view point.

I bought this book a few weeks ago because I’ll be getting a Golden Retriever soon. This book is so helpful in having a simple to understand step by step process of raising and training a golden retriever. I like that the author has a clear understanding of dog behavior and the Golden Retriever temperament and offers clear steps to address behavioral concerns and train your dog. It talks about what the puppy is mentally ready to learn at each month and how their temperament will change as they grow. Very helpful book and I’m glad I bought it.

Book was in perfect condition. It’s the first time we’ve owned a golden retriever so I wanted a book to give us some insight on behavior and growth. The book is a wealth of information. Worth the purchase.

My grandkids got Lilly ,the golden retriever puppy, for Christmas and I got the family a couple of books about raising a puppy. This is an interesting and informative book to help people understand the development of their puppy. My daughter, son-in-law and grandkids have all benefited from this book. Lilly has benefited most of all though! Highly recommended!

This book is well written and covers everything you can imagine, and not imagine, that goes into training and raising a labrador retriever. It can overwhelm those who have never had a dog, as a puppy or an older dog, which is exactly why the information in this book should be read and carefully considered. If you go out and get a beautiful cute little puppy before you know what to expect you are buying a HUGE MISTAKE !! If you are not ready for the time and patience that it takes to raise any dog, but especially a labrador retriever, get a cute fish or a nice plant. Both you and the dog will be better off. The book is a must read !!

My puppy's coming home at the end of July, so I bought a bunch of books to help me prepare myself. This one was by far the best one. It breaks down month by month what your puppy will be going through in a detailed, yet interesting and easy to read fashion. I feel that the book is very well organized (each chapter represents a month, and then each chapter is broken down into sections about health, training, socialization, etc. It's very useful and it will be great to be able to reread the book again, month by month, as my puppy grows up. I do wish that it had more (or even some) pictures, but otherwise this book is absolutely excellent

Love this book. I'm couple days away from being a first time Golden Retriever owner and this book is really helpful to prepare for her arrival. Not done reading it, but since it's a month to month book, I'll have more than enough time to catch up.

What a wonderful book. Easy to read and written in month by month steps so it will be easy to refer back to. Very very good advice, can't wait to start putting the training into practice. I have had dogs all my life (small dogs) but never a golden and i wanted to do more training this time... which I think he'll love, being a working breed. There are things such as using a crate that i have never done before, so that was very interesting to read. It's definitely not a book that drones on repeating the same thing, it's written in a way that keeps your attention. I would definitely recommend this book.

Very detailed and lots of super helpful hints and tips. I felt that our Puppy is about six weeks ahead of the schedule outlined in the book but the fact I was able To recognize that by the description of behaviors shows that it’s an excellent book!
